How to store data in Visual Studio 2013? [on hold]

I have a desktop program (a forms application) that I would like to save data (so when the program is opened, the data is loaded)

I know Core Data in iOS, and I want to do the same thing for Windows (is their a way to create entities, etc?)

My app consists of displaying a list of shifts available to work. You pick which ever ones you want. When you pick one it saves it to a database (all shifts picked need to be saved).
